Archway Inc. is a proud sponsor of the Anti-Graffiti
Mural Project. This is a community project that is organized
and led by the Rotary Club of Tumon Bay.
Guam is a very small Island in the middle of the ocean with its west coast
line facing the Philippine Sea and its east coast facing the Pacific Ocean.
Guam is a U.S. Territory and has a land area of 212 square miles (549 square
kilometers) and is located 13.48 degrees North and 144.45 degrees East.
Because of its location west of the International Dateline it is actually one
day ahead of any other U.S. Territory or State. This is why Guam’s motto
is “Where Americas Day Begins.”
Because of our special position on the map, we can also claim to be the place
where America’s first baby is born, every year!
In 2005, Archway Inc. decided that this bit of information should be celebrated
by our island residents and promoted to the rest of the world.
Archway Inc. set out to welcome the First New Years Baby born in America by
announcing that it would give the lucky baby a $1,000 Savings Bond along with
other gifts to enjoy. A letter of invitation was sent from Archway Inc. to
several businesses on Guam. Numerous companies provided restaurant meals,
savings bonds, cash, toys, clothing, baby supplies, and other various donations.
